I was fixing part of the dash on my 86 Aspencade. After putting the mounting nuts thru the lower part of the mountings, the socket fell off of the extenstion. It fell into the front of the fairing, but I can't see where it fell. After taking off the headlight and poking around other parts I could take off, I still can't see how to get to the lower part of the fairing. Any ideas on how to retrieve it? Or, would it cause a problem being left there?

Tricky has a good idea there. I would also try an extension magnet with a strong head.
It will come out one day while you are riding down the highway with a police officer following you. It will go though in windshield almost hitting him in the head. He will of course have a swat team return it to you. At least this is how things go for me.

Already gave that a try. No joy. It seems to be in between the walls of the fairing. It's becoming a quest to retrieve it.
Don't know why it posted 3x, I'll get the hang of this yet...
I don't think it will hurt anything in there unless it rattles. Even then I would just turn the radio up.
did you check your dryer in your laundry room?

Grim Reaper, did you ever locate the missing socket?
As a matter of fact, I finally did. Used a flashlight and one of the as seen on tv drain cleaners. I was able to bend it to reach the bottom of the fairing thru the right pocket, and it was stiff enough to hold the socket.
