when in any gear at about 5000 rpm there is a grouling noise
some time mosty when i am acelerating fast or slowing fast
Could be intake air noise or worse, it could be crankshaft bearing noise. Gold Wing engines aren't the quietest engines so you might want to bring your bike to someone with a good ear for Wing engines to give you a secong opinion.
Hi,
the last time I saw 5000rpm was when I missed a gear and grabbed a handful, tell us what you are doing at these revs.
At 5k revs, its most likely to be your crankshaft trying to get outside to cool down

Llanelli my friend.
I have never seen 5000 Rpms on my wing. Do they go that High?....lol
Are you kidding? I've had mine up to 8000 RPM on many occasions, although mine is not stock, for stock engines the redline or maximum engine RPM is 7500 RPM.
My tac. is digital so I can't see where the redline is. I thought I read somewhere that it it's 6500. I'll guess I'll have to read it again.

They say that 3 things start to happen as we get older.............I can't remember what they are now............

Guess that's why I pull only 31.8 mpg

For those who haven't wound one of these old girls up, you can't believe how great they sound when you do. Just have to watch where you are, by the time you hit 7000 in 3rd, you are moving!!! Confusedhock:

When you start reaching 6400 RPM a red line starts to flash below the numbers on your tach and then when you reach 7500 RPM the red line is very prominent and solid. 7500 is the max engine RPM.
Great, Thanks Vic. Good to know.
I'll have to try it sometime. ( When it is finally set up right). :?
See You Sat.
The 1200 makes a lot of power at higher RPM's so make sure you hang on tight and watch your speed and for cops. See you Saturday.
oh there is a light under the red line :O????
