First like to say nice site and good info. :YMAPPLAUSE:
I have been lurking for a while and reading up on different info here and there.
I come from a race family back ground starting with ice racing then dirt and to the road tracks and then street.
I started as a mech. went to driving trucks and returned to restoring and riding bikes. Now I build, restore, servce bikes (older bikes) here at home. Used to work at wrecking yards and dealerships (for bikes) but I didn't like there politic's in there shops.
Have three bikes in the stable. A 86 G/W Se-I , 01 Ninji 12 r and a 90 kx 500.
The G/W of course is for the wife and I to get out on.
The 12r is when I need something that moves when I'm feeling it.
The kx500 is when i need to get real stupid and crazey in the dirt.
BTW: I'm 51 years young, not dead !
My opion riding:
I ride a brisk pace. I have a a problem riding the slabs in a straight line with the cruze control on and a cup of coffee in hand. It just flat spots the tires down the center. I like using the whole tire up before replacing them.
Group riding is fine with about 5-6 good riders that can keep a nice brisk pace. I don't drink there for the 20 mile bar hop thing does not get it with me. Nor does the ride for 30 min rides and BS for 2 hours.
If your out to ride ....then ride!
I have been riding big bikes all my life, be it street cruzer, sport bike or dirt. I like them all.
I pick up my 86 G/W SE-I for 750.00
The bike has been well kept and rode very little. Only has 31000 miles on her. I am the second owner as of now.
The only thing it needed was a set of tires (E-3's) and charge the battery. I did a complete tune up on her just for my own info.
There is nothing on the bike that does not work. There's no broken plastic's amd all the chrome is in prefect shape.
I'm sure I may run into a few of you out some where......ride safe folk's
Kurt
