I've noticed a lot of new members that haven't posted up anything. If your a new member, at least say hi and what you ride so we can all welcome you to the BEST (and only) GL1200 site on the world wide web!

howdy doody, found your site over at steve saunders goldwing site. I ride a 87 aspencade and love it. hope to get some new info over here and also help out some other 1200 owners, as i've done a fair bit of work to my 1200. Mike
Well it's nice to see you here Mike. Welcome and enjoy.
Hello Goldwing friends, just wanted to say hello and let you folks know I am glad to find a place where the 1200 is the main topic. I have an 84I that has 96K on the clock and fresh paint by me and an almost poorboy conversion(Dons idea and me and a friends fabricating) I live in NC right next to SC line. An hour from the parkway and 4 hours from the beach. In this area I can ride year round.
Thanks
Allen
Hey Pappy,
It's good to have you here. BTW, I'm in Hickory, just a little farther NW of you.... Maybe we can ride together sometime. I'm glad to know someone is close by who has done an alternator conversion. I will know who to call on if I need to do the same.

lboodge and Pappy, glad to have you guys here. Steve site is a good one but as you said this site is for us 1200 owners and the Admin is one of the guys that give a lot of the info on steves site so here we got the best of both worlds. So welcome to the best 1200 site on the web!

Hello Friends,
Just wanted to chime in and say hello. I think this site is going to be the most important tool a GL1200 owner will ever have. I would have been in deep dodo a long time ago if it weren't for Vic and some of the other 1200 guys. They've helped me keep my true love going, my 85 Aspencade that is. Thanks guys
BTW. I live in Cleveland Texas about 45 miles north east of Minute Maid stadium in downtown Houston. If anyone here is in southeast Texas, let's get together and ride.
Hi Lloyd Glad to have you. And I agree with you about Vic and the other 1200 owners from the other site. My wing runs great because of them. I think we have a great thing growing here.
I've been enjoying the Steve Saunders site for the last couple of weeks, and saw the announcement for this one.
I have an 87I, champaign with 52k on it, and I am setting it up for LD/IronButt riding. First thing is to get it in top shape, and so am working on that now, am almost there. I would take it accross country now, (cause I have a VISA card), but I want completely reliable and fresh.
About my name: I bought my first Goldwing in 1982, and before that had two other Honda's and a Kawi. I then, (with great saddness) let the 82 stay outside in the winter and it rusted up, and I was simply too busy with develping my business to ride at all. So, it died, but I am heartened to know that it lives on as it became a parts bike for many others a few years ago.
Anyway, I picked up this used 87 a few years ago to replace the 82, and then a few years ago, I got my wife interested in riding. After scareing the begeezus out of her riding 2-up, she decided to get her own bike,, and ended up with a Harley Sportster. Well she had that for 2 years, and I learned how to work on Harleys, but after 2 years of numb hands, she decided to go metric and we sold that sucker off. She ended up with a Kawi Vuncan, (she needs a low bike), and so after the Harley experience, I told myself I would never have anything other than metric, hence the name.
I know, more information than what you wanted, but it's a slow day...
Marty
Hi 1200 folks,
I have an 85 LTD with 21,000 miles on it. I bought it last year from my brother who was the original owner. It was well taken care of and I hope to ride it until it wears out. This site is just what we need to keep these 1200s going (especially the LTD/SEis).
I primarily visited the goldwingfacts.com site (excellent!), but as the 1200s get older, my fear is that the majority of info there will eventually be for the 15s and 18s. So..... Vic, you must have esp or something, because I have been thinking - boy, we need a site just for the 1200s! Thanks for setting this up for us. I ran my own phpBB site several years ago to teach online courses with and found it to be excellent software. You have a nice platform to grow with.
I have owned several street and dirt bikes over the years including a V45 and V65 Sabre. The wing is definitely the best when it comes to riding in comfort. I have never ridden a 15 or 18, so I don't know what I am missing (if anything). The LTD does everything I need and I do all of my own work on it, so hopefully with sites like this, I can make it last and last.
Happy riding!

Hi Pauln..
Welcome from another LTD'er Last summer I was looking into replacing my LTD with either a 15 or 18... I drove a few 15's and a couple 18's (ones that would fit into my budget), I just couldn't find one I liked better than my LTD... I guess we are spoiled with the toys on LTD's 8)
Hello everyone, great site Vic. Its good to know that there is such interest in the GL1200 even if it is averaging 20 years old.
I've rode bikes since I was 8, starting with an old Fox mini - bike, 125 Honda, 350 Kawasaki, 650 CSR Kawasaki, 1100 Yamaha Venture Royal, 1988 GL1500 Goldwing. Had back surgery in the 90s' got rid of all my riding toys and took a break, kids are now thru school and grown so the little woman and I thought it might be time to try the open road again. Wanted to go with a 1200 so as not to sink so much money into a toy just in case I still had problems riding, got an '86 GL1200 SEI and couldn't be happier. Just like nothing had ever changed.
Its great to be here.

Glad you made it into the site TN.
I see you ride the Classiest of the Classic Wings, one of my favorites.
Enjoy your time here.
