Hello all
I joined here sometime in July this year.
It has been my intention of starting a thread or new topic
detailing the refurbishment of my 1984 GL1200 Aspencade,
but I am finding it a bit difficult navigating my way around this site
so I am starting it here and now.
If it is in the wrong place I ask the moderators to put in the correct place
including the bin if that is appropriate.

Anyways, here is a picture of the little darling as she was.
I bought this machine earlier this year from a dealer.
It was Imported into Ireland around 2002, I presume from the UK
as it has a Goldwing Owners Club GB pennant.
She currently has 69,000 miles. It is I feel a US model which has a
CB radio of the type illegal in Europe.
For the last number of years she has sat in a shed (barn) and
was not used on the road, although the previous owner paid
his road tax every year, and I have the tax licence discs up to march
2010.
The tyres were rubbish, Paintwork was shabby,
She would start but ran very poorly,
I feel the carburettors need attention.
There was a lot of aftermarket chrome which was in poor
but salvagable condition, but as I am a guy who likes his
machines as the left the factory, I intended to discard these
embellishments.
I shall continue to add more pictures over the next few days,
That is if I can find this thread again. Is it me or is this forum set up complicated?
Liam

the bike looks great, congratulations on this fine project

you can click the last box below the post window and receive an e mail notification when somebody posts to the thread

also at the top of the page under the date you can click on "view new posts" and it will bring up all posts that you have not looked at previously

there may be other tricks but those are the two that I use most. There is a mountain of useful information on this site, I feel it is organized as well as it can be

Good luck on the bike, please keep posting pictures as you make more progress

and WELCOME to the site
Here is a larger picture (Hopefully)
Welcome to the site Liam. That is a nice looking 84 aspy, it is good to see another one of these great machines being restored to life. This is a great site with all the info you need to do almost anything to your wing, the members are loaded with experience and very helpful. The site is well organized and easy to use, you just need to look around and get used to it. Don't be afraid to ask questions about your bike and the site, some one will always help you out.

The site is only complicated if you don't take the time to understand it. Once you know all the buttons it becomes the easiest 1200 site on the net to use. Typical 1200 owners catch on to it very fast.
I think you are right there.
I have spent a bit more time on the site and reckon I will get the hang
of it ok.
I will set up an online Photo album and link to the photos from there.
Thanks for the welcome Angela.
I am afraid that the poor thing no longer looks like the picture as she
has been completely dismantled. Once I get some online picture storage set up
I will post some more pictures.
here is a trial picture

Sorry, Liam, but I don't think your picture came through. It might be too big. All I see is a red "X".

Well Begorrah and Bejabers I think I have it now. %%- %%- \:d/
Here is a view of the Aftermarket rocker covers that were fitted.
The chrome is in very bad condition and is peeling off.

Here is a picture of the front wheel with added embellishments.
I do not wish to reuse these

I also want rid of this spoiler or scoop.

The plastic chrome timing belt cover also must go.
