So the carbs are back in the bike and the battery is charged, so I went out and started her last nite. She starts right up, idles pretty well (did need some choke until she warmed up) at 1000rpm.
Next thing to tackle, is a significant off-idle stumble. Without choke its bogging down significantly off idle. It did get a little better once it got warmer, but it is a significant stumble.
I'm going to break out the carb sticks next and sync the carbs, anything else I should check?

While the carbs were out, did you take a peek at the throttle needles? Do they slide up with ease, and glide back home without binding?
My bike had a similar bogging as yours. As the engine rpm increases, these throttle needles are supposed to all go up at the same rate.
If one or more do not glide up at the same rate, that cylinder will be lacking fuel the others are getting and the engine will act as if it is starving,
which it is. While I had my carbs out, I cleaned the cylinder walls of the carbs (where these throttle needles slide) with a clean, dry cloth, rubbing
and polishing as I went along. Next, I cleaned the pistons, which is a black, plastic type material. Again, clean, dry, cloth and polished as I went along.
Caution must be used when cleaning the pistons however. Do not tear the diaphragm or dent/dimple the cylinder or deform the needle as performance will suffer.
Also, donât forget to lubricate the throttle linkage. As the miles roll by, the dirt collects and can cause resistance. Smooth opening and âsnappingâ shut is
what you want to achieve.
When did you last change the fuel filter? See other threads about this filter. Some aftermarkets fall apart and clog the line/carbs.
Donât assume the air filter is good just because it âlooksâ good. Looking good may actually be a clogged filter creating a rich mixture.
Carb sticks. I love mine! Got mine from an older gentleman getting out of motorcycles. His (now mine) are mercury filled so caution is the name of that game.

Good thoughts on the slides... I did not check them!
I love my sticks, they are mercury as well, I'm tempted to upgrade to a carbtune so I don't have to worry about it though!
I'm going to try the sync and if that doesn't help, those carbs are comming back out.
In terms of the fuel filter, its BRAND NEW, and its the NAPA one recomended as a replacement.
