What type of oil and where would I use it?

I replaced my speedometer cable and now after about 100 miles it's squealing. The PO had pulled out the old cable due to a hum. When I put the new one on though it has been quite until now.
I had a 750 Honda and the speedometer cable was making a squealing noise. I pulled the cable out and coated it with some molly-60 and that worked for at least 4 years, maybe longer.

This is probably the easiest way to lube all cables on a bike. I've used this product on our dirt bikes w/ good results.
You could find something similar at any cycle shop. prices range from $12-24 bucks U.S.

Have used this i have one and it works great.
Will work for you for sure. good advice Wing
OK! Stopped in the parts store today and they gave me black graphite spray. Pulled th cable and coated to as well as the inside of the tube.

Took her out for a spin and it did fine until I have to slow down and it starts screaming again until I stop.

Then when I start out it's fine until I slow down again. Once it starts screaming it won't stop until I stop the bike.

I put my hand up on the gauges and there is a definite vibration.

Is it my speedometer it's self? What is my next step with my being a newbie at all of this?

I dont know a whole lot about the wings yet but I have a squeal as well in cold weather and I think it comes from the tach cable am I correct? The tach sticks until it warms up from riding. Can someone tell me how to get to the Tach cable and if oiling it will help?
Mine is squealing too more when t is cold. I have seen some posts either here or on Steve Saunders site which had some tips concerning oiling the speedo to stop the squeal. I know you have to be careful what you use and use it sparingly. Anybody have any tips on doing this?

I was having same problem before. My friend suggested me to lube them and never heard a noise from it again.I usually put a little white lithium grease in the end of the cable before putting it into the cluster.. I don't know if it's the right grease but it eliminates the problem. For lubing you have to just remove the gauge cluster , lube the end and place it back..Hope this information helps you..

So how do you remove the gauge cluster easily!!! HAHA

The tach is electric, no cable.
so is it just the cable that is causing the issue or could it be in the speedo itself? I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to mess with it.

Ok on the tach you say it is electrical?? 1985 interstate? If so what is the squeeling the speedo?noise comes from the dash area!
