I am looking at ways to mount a volt meter, not sure I want to cut a hole to do so. I found one that plugs into the cigarette lighter at J C Whitney about $55
The location on my 86 Aspy is perfect, high and visible.
Always good to know how the charging system is doing.

Being a new member, I have to say I love this site. All the info is awsome.

Welcome, Dan. If you want to see the type of voltmeter how other members have mounted them, just type voltmeter in to the Search function.
Welcome Dan. I've been looking at those plug in volt meters also. I'd like to get some feed back on how accurate they are.

Check out this thread, and you can then see how others have done this.

I like my $10.00 analog meter in front of my right knee, es[ecially with the added push button to turn on the backlight only when I want it.

I have a couple of the plug in types. I don't know how accurate they are but certainly enough to let you know if the alternator is on the fritz. Mine usually show 14.1-14.5. That's close enough for me. As long as i can see the green light, I'm happy. :YMAPPLAUSE:

Just my 0.02, I have an Interstate, (no radio) and the original owner had mounted a couple of clips to the speaker blanks (which left small holes when I removed them) so I mounted my analog voltmeter in the right speaker blank, on a similar plane as the original gauges. It is from the Honda Water Sports division so it is water proof, says HONDA in white letters along the bottom, and is back lit. Not anymore expensive than a automotive version (which is not water proof or says HONDA) and is made by Faria, a quality, marine gauge manufacturer.

Here is a HONDA Marine link: http://marine.honda.com/pdf/accessories/Gauge_Sets.pdf

My unit is this: 37450-ZW5-000ZA, Volt Meter, Black Face/Flat Lens

I had the option of mounting it at eye level so I don’t have to look away from the road to read it.

Good Luck.

Much better to mount it at eye level. Very convenient.
I got a volt meter from ebay, I think it's from an LTD, or an SEi; It looks just like the clock on an Aspencade..it fits right in that spot, of coarse it reads volts..no clock though..I can live with that....
i too at one time mounted an ltd voltmeter on my aspy and found i missed my clock too much,i then went with a kury led voltmeter which i attached to my brake m/c,quick glance and just seeing green lights keeps me happy

neoracer, besides missing the clock, how did you find the LTD volt meter? Was it accurate? Bright enough at night?
