Had my 85 Interstate in for some work and asked the shop to look for a slow drip oil leak I have ( when warm ). The mechanic says he thinks it is oil following the three yellow stator wires out of the rear cover. I did a Poorboy Conversion on the bike a couple of years ago so the three wires are not being utilized.

Is this a common oil leakage situation and has anyone found a a good way to fix this ?

Thanks

I know this is an old thread but, I would be a bit leary of a mechanic who 'thinks' he knows what the problem is instead of 'knowing' what it is. I can hear him now, 'I think this will fix the guys problem.'
I do not believe it is a common problem and any leak is worth at least investigating its source then deciding a course of action.

Even a little bit of oil dripping can cause your rear tire to lose traction if the planets align.

I had an LTD leaking in that spot because the seal had hardened and shrunk. A bit of RTV silicone sealer fixed it no problem after a thorough cleaning with aerosol brake cleaner and a blow dry with an air gun.
