Something to consider about adding something to stock radio, In our fleet we are just in the last year to year and a half adding CD players as we swap out the old cassettes. One problem we had is we kept burning the radio out in the older cassette units. I spoke with the manufacture about it and what they advised is our drivers were using the adapter that pushes into the cassette deck that allowed them to plug in IPods and similar devises and play through stereo.It was putting a load on the internal circuit boards and burning them out. Now granted these trucks run 24 hours a day 4-5 days a week and I am sure the drivers kept the radio going constantly to keep them awake so the extended use compared to what we do may have made the difference. My wife has been complaining about not being able to keep good stations on without static as traveling so I am watching this thread with great interest. So far sounds like the modulator is the way to go without to much expense and work adding it in.
