Choke cable adjustment
Greetings from chilly CT...

Over the weekend, I removed the carbs from the 85 Aspencade in order to examine / lubricate the linkages for the enrichment circuit. Checked the operation of the choke cable once the carbs were out and thought it was suspect. Since I had a new choke cable on hand, I decided to replace it.

I do have a question regarding the new installation. Specifically, do I need to fine tune the mechanical setting of the cable? The cable threads into the master cylinder and is equipped with a stop nut. If I vary the degree to which the cable is threaded into the master cylinder (i.e., one turn, two turns, fully threaded, etc.), it will vary the length if cable available to operate the enrichment linkage.

Is this something that needs to be dialed in to a fine point. Not too crazy about continued dis-assembly / reassembly of the clutch master cylinder to fine tune the choke performance, but I'll do it if I have to...

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Pete

to be honest I have never changed the choke cable on either of my 1200's

If it were me I would just replace the cable and leave everything else as is.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

No fine tuning necessary. Cables stretch over time, so there is a bit of adjustment available to compensate. Set it and forget it.
