installed timing belts now have a noise?
Installed new timing belts on my 1987 goldwing and went for a ride, there is a slight wineing sound between 2000 and 3000 rpms. Is it possible to over tighten the belts? will the new belts loosen up a bit?

thanks,
Jeff

Yes, it is possible to tighten the belts too tight. Vic and Tricky just posted on this recently. The "whine" is caused by belt tension that physically "pulls" the front portion of the cams toward each other. Recheck the belt deflection. The cams do not not have "bearings". They ride in aluminum bosses in the head. There is a possibility that damage may occur to the bosses if the cams are pulled too tight.
