Upgrading the charging system

I have been going over this sight a bunch here lately. One of the problems that keep coming up is the connectors for the charging system. I looked around on the net and found a kit by The Electrical Connection I decided on it because it had the Coil power upgrade that I preformed on my 77 KZ650.
Here is what I found when I tore into my bike hock: hock: I had checked to see if It was charging a few days earlier and it was working great. But It looks like it could have failed at any moment. The kit was pretty straight forward. Just make sure you rout the wires under the frame rail near the bat. or your side cover won't fit right and it'll blow off the next time you take it for a ride    As I mentioned before I did a coil mod on my old KZ650. This kit had that included. It basically powers your coils through a relay. There was an immediate difference in the way my bike idled. I didn't check the voltage at the coils but I bet it was near 10 volts. Not the 12 that it takes for them to operate correctly. This is a very good Quality Kit and I would recommend everyone install one on their 1200. It took me about an hour to install the kit. Soldering is required. Have a great day, Wes |

I read about the coil mod on the KZ Rider forum. I did the coil mod on my KZ-1100 and it made quite a difference. I never thought about doing it to the Wing. Whenever I have the cover off I will have to check and see if there is a voltage drop on the Wing. It runs great now but you never know. Thanks for reminding me.

Sounds like the EC wiring harness, which is kind of like the DC harness but with a relay.
