Stator/regulator recommentation wanted
I'm tearing down my '84 1200 Standard today to replace the stator and rectifier/regulator. Does anyone think there is a brand that is as good as or better than mother Honda? I know MH is higher but ignoring price for the moment, who makes the best product. Mine failed at 62,000 miles with NO extra lights of any kind. On the '84 you have to pull the engine to change the stator so I don't want to do it twice.

Thanks for your input.

You have to pull the engine on all 1200s to replace the stator. Extra lights do not make the stator go bad. Poorboy

here in mexico they rebuild them, yes there are companies that will replace all the wire, you culd try to get someone to do it with high quality items.

Welcome, Captkirk. I recently replaced my stator and regulator with two new units through http://www.rmstator.com

Good prices and a warranty on each. After almost 2,000 km, she's running like new.

I replaced mine with one from Dennis Kirk. Reguator also. Been Apoxx. Two year's and all is well. Big Grin I think if I have to do it again I'll go with a Poorboy convertion.

Is yours the "Rick's" brand or the "ElectroSport"? They show to have both now.

I had an electrosport stator and it only lasted 2 years. I did everything I was supposed to but it still failed. I have a new Rick's rectifier I am willing to let go for $85.00 plus shipping. It is brand new and never installed. I put in the poorboy kit instead and I am happy with it. You can PM me if you are interested. If not good luck with whatever you decide to do. Randy
