1977 GL1000 wont do anything when key is turned.
I have been driving this bike like 4 times a week around town, last night i went downtown parked it and came back like 30 min later and turned the key and nothing, no lights no nothing, I checked the battery its charged, there are some fuses on the batter I checked and were all good, I didnt check the dogbone, but would that stop the lights from even working when turning the key??

What would I check first?

thanks for any help!

Well I went back down there and looked for a dogbone, think they already did the conversion, I think, kinda weird on this one. I did the conversion on my 84 Aspencade GL1200.
There is a silver box on the left side of the battery I tapped it and then everything worked.

that possible?

What does this silver box look like?
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I didnt tap the relay though, i tapped the thing on the left, which is the rectifier right?

well it seams like i would tap on or around the solenoid, it would stay running for about a minute then die again and then nothing, no lights nothing. like there was no battery attached.
happened a couple times.

should i replace the solenoid?

where can i get one of them local?

So I will double check those connections, what else do you suggest I check?
what else could cause this problem, obviously its an electrical issue....

I had fixed it early this morning, the issue was the 30 amp fuse, although the conversion from the plug to the fuse was already done, the guy used the round fuses...well when i looked at it a few times going thru this it looked ok and was not blown.
but i decided to take it out and when i did the ends fell apart, so that was the problem, put a new fuse it and all good. will change to fuse to what it should be soon.

thanks!
