Was it the same problem both times, and what was the problem?
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

no first time i sent it back was just for a tuneup and to replace the missing buttons
this time it was a broken coil and replace the burnt out display bulbs

then when i called this morning was told that Doug was out for 3 weeks so i guess i was really lucky that he fixed mine before he left

read somewhere that someone was adding an MP3 input port to the Panasonic radio, Sierra said its not them

anybody know who?

I am sure I read it on the Steve Saunders site but I have searched without success.
I use a simple fm modulator but am going to replace it with the audiovox model that goes in the the antenna cable, I think that one traps any fm signal that would interfere with the MP3 signal if you get to a strong station.
Although I don't notice problems with the one I am using now it could be a problem if there are lots of fm staions in the area your riding in.

I have found the direct connect like tricky is speaking of work quirt well if the radio has pretty good tuner sensitivity... I use it on my car (XM radio) and it does make it far less sensitive to outside broadcast stations causing interference... I as yet have not done this on the bike (but plan to)... I'm not sure just how sensitive the fm tuner is in these rather old radios, but I'm hoping it will do the trick... I find (especially on long road trips) that I often have to retune the XMs fm transmitter in order to keep a clear signal (without the direct connect)... If the Panasonics got a decent tuner in it, then all should be good with any type of external deice (mp3, satellite radio, etc) with the direct connect installed... The type tricky has should be every bit as good as the clip-on type (like XM uses) and possibly even better... The only concern is that it does over drive the tuner with to strong a signal (can cause noise if it does)... I'll report on my findings with the XMs clip-on type direct connect once I get it in place...

one way to avoid gettting as much interference when using an fm modulator and being near a strong station is to change the local/distance switch to local when using the modulator
