What do I need to install a factory CB

I have a 86 Se-i I know I need a CB and the Switch that mounts by the clutch master but what else to make it work like factory. The bike has an intercom already.

Before Tricky jumps in and answers your question let me have a go at it. You'll need;
1. transceiver (you already mentioned)
2. multichanger
3. antenna splitter
4. handlebar mounted switch (you already mentioned)
5. passenger PTT switch ( I believe this is optional)

How did I do Tricky?

A plug from the junction box (the intercom you already have) plugs into the multichanger and it becomes your new intercom/CB/stereo. If you're interested in doing this project I have an antenna splitter and multichanger I just removed from my '87 that I would be willing to part with. PM me if you're interested.

I was going to save the money on a mount and glue it to the top of my helmet. It makes a good lightning rod too. :lol:

I don't think you'll need the extra antenna. The way I read the antenna splitter it has an input for the radio antenna and another input for the CB which then allows you to get away with one antenna. Right, Tricky?

I like the top of the helmet method because if the signal is weak you can just turn your head until reception is better. :lol:

On my Wing I used a separate antena for the CB so I could tune the antenna height which now gives me excellent receive/transmit signal while the radio reception is not affected.

the antenna and mount can still be purchased new for about 75 bucks plus shipping. I am looking at several OEM cbs on ebay but have not found the PTT switch for the handle bar yet. Besides if you have 2 antennas you can hang a clothes line and dry you undies if you get caught in the rain. :lol: Anyone have a CB for Sale out there?

the helmet mount is a cool idea but vic forgot to mention that ya gotta cover for helmet with aluminum foil too =)) =))

its hard enough just to get cb radio in and out to send for service much less mounting all that stuff up

if somebody would figure out an easy way to upgrade those old fashioned DIN connectors honda used i'd be the first to upgrade them

Wanted to say thanks to everyone in advance. these boards are an invaluable source of info for these old bikes....I have an 84 aspy, have a few questions on the audio system.... as I said earlier I am restoring the system on my ride, have all the parts except for the j-box...if I cannot find one I am going to simply connect the output of the radio to the multichanger via a f-f din... if I can find one... if I cannot find one then I am going to make one... soooo ifanyone knows of a J-box or a f-f cable... let me know....a point of interest the control for the am/fm radio is electrically the same as the ptt/channel controller for the cb, the labels are different, and I have not checked out the pins on the connector... but mechannically they are the same.. sooo if you cannot find the handlebar switch/or it is broken (as mine is) a radio switch will work in its place.

I just purchased a OEM CB Radio and I am not sure that I have everything. I need the mount and antenna I know that however, I don't know how to attach the coax cable to the radio. Also I believe that there is a part that mounts to the handle bars which controls the radio. I don't have a intercom or OEM Stereo Radio so I want to select a channel when I am riding with a group of rider. Is there a diagram somewhere so I can see what I am missing? Thanks for any help....

It sounds like you don't have any of the Honda intercom or radio equipment on your bike...

If that it the case, then you might consider just getting a portable CB and use a ear bud...

I doubt very much you will get it to work unless your an electronics tech.

It is a system that starts with the AM FM Radio, the multichanger, etc etc you will find diagrams on the forum.

If your wanting a CB I might suggest this is the way to go if your without all the components
