I NEED A FEMALE 5 PIN DIN CABLE AND A PTT SWITCH
I have the ptt switch, but am not sure where it connects in the bikes wiring harness.... according to the cb book it supposedly connects under the seat, but so far I cannot find one..... I assume that it is in parallel with the one on the handlebar giving the passenger the ability to talk on the cb as well. Any info is appreciated...

Have you got a picture of the switch?

If you have the standard passenger PTT switch, it should have a brown, two pin connector. You'll find the matching connector on the left side of the bike, under the seat, in the boot that shields the harness connector for the left saddlebag. The '84 Aspy should be pre-wired for it.

Vic,

I know you're not a big fan of ebay, but here:

Thanks Gary. No problems with Ebay here but it sure does want to make me cry knowing that they are tearing apart a nice 85 Aspencade.

The switch I need is different, I have an 84 and 84's were all alone regarding those switches.

Hi Vic,
Just wondering if you ever found the wiring that you needed to hook up your cb? I'm trying to hook my handheld mike from a Radio Shack TRC-503 to my boom mike.
I can hear it through the headphones but I can't transmit.

Thanks Gene

If I am correct the Radio shack mike has a 5 Pin DIN but only 4 pins are in use.
I made a harness up one time so that I could use either headset or mike or both.

Basically it's just like adding a second passenger

The hardest part was finding shielded wire to work with.

Hi Tricky,
Thanks for the imput. I'll let you know when I get it to work.
Do you think just a push on and off button would work for a PTT
button?
Your correct one of the wires is cut off just inside the cb mike.

You can get a simple push on and release button from radio shack for a few $ that is what I used on a friends add on CB.
It's the mike wires that might need the shielding

Hi Tricky,
The 5-pin female connecters that I ordered were the wrong pin pattern so scratch that last post on the part#. They didn't match my cord.
I have an interstate with J&M headsets but only hooked up to the intercom that came on the bike at the present. It's hard to find the female ends to make the connections so I'm still working on it.
I was thinking of soldering the headset mike wires to the cb mike?

Hi Tricky,
Thanks Tricky
I got it re-wired and it works just fine! I spliced into the handheld mike. I still use the handheld mike for my PTT button, and I can transmit through either mike, handheld or headset.
I feel safer now that I can use the headset mike whenever I'm riding.

I think I've got everything I need to make it work, now I just have to consult with Tricky on how to make it all work. He gave me a drawing but it might take a few emails and phone calls to finally sort it all out.
