CB Audio
Anyone know where to get the factory cb repaired or checked. My 87 gl 1200 aspencde has no audio from the cb. the intercoms work fine so I don't think it is a mic problem. when I hit the transmit button you can hear the signal carrier on another cb but no audio. I at a stalemate at this point i don't want to buy a used one from e bay as they are going for 300+ any suggestions would be greatly apprecated.

Before sending the unit away, remove the four allen screws and pull the unit forward, remove the large plug at the bottom of the CB and make sure the contacts are clean.
give a little attention to pins M&L carefully give them a slight twist so as to make sure they are contacting their respective sockets in the plug

We just did that on another CB over the weekend, it was showing TX and the carrier was being detected on another CB but no voice was detected. The intercom was working fine also on that unit.

Pulled the Cb Today checked all the wires they were all clean and tight connections. I guess I'll have to back track and follow the wires that go to the M & L connections. As now I have a gut feeling that the problem is not in the cb itself. Thanks for all and any help

In that case, this may help.

The multichanger is a sturdy component and usually doesnt cause many problems it could be in the connections.

A number of similar problems I had on my CB were related to the wire connected to the passenger. Intercom worked ok, but not the CB. Little wires inside shorting out. If all else fails, put the seat and disconnect that wire and see if it makes a difference.

Hate to be a pain but does anyone know where the multi changer is located?

You will see by the drawing how the CB option is wired:

Also the basic layout of the system.

I see by the above diagram the FM antenna cable plugs in just before the radio well. Does anyone know if that FM antenna connection is a standard FM connector? I'm looking to put in a FM Direct connector for my Sirius radio.

All of the antenna jacks and plugs are standard automotive type. The antenna feeds a mixer that takes splits the signals into the CB and FM receiver/intercom.

Just remember that when you get the CB working you will have to tune it for the antenna. There are several threads the present how to do this.
