1100/1200 Timing tool on ebay
There's a timing tool on Ebay. Thought 1200 was nonadjustable. Round with cross marks. Any ideas on what this is? Thanks.

The 1200 timing is not adjustable but it can be out of proper time if the ecu is bad, if the 4th and 4th gear switch is out or the vacuum hose is leaking.

Checking the timing would prove that all components are working correctly.

Would that timing tool be the see-through cap that goes in the hole on top of the engine case so you can see the timing marks with the engine running?

If it's not the timing window then it's got to be a degree wheel.

If you want a quick and dirty timing window, cut a piece of clear plastic from a blister pack, CD jewel case, whatever and stick it over the hole with some silicone seal. Give it 15 minutes to set and voila! You have a timing window. It's easy to peel off once you get through with it. Warning window might get oily works best with clean engine oil.

A degree wheel is simply a flat piece of circular plastic usually white or black that has 360 equally spaced marks on it that denote one degree increments of rotation. You place a fixed wire pointer on the engine block and it shows how many degrees of timing advance or retard the ignition or camshaft timing is set at in degrees.

The engine is turned by hand when using a degree wheel and normally a dial indicator is on the camshaft to determine lift and duration at .050 lift.
