This guy has 2 for sale, and he ships worldwide. I have bought parts through him before because he is located in Wyoming which is right next door to us. Good product and fast delivery.

I think Bob was looking for a replacement joint so he could make some extra money "refurbing" them as he does with the rear wheel.

Actually no. In this case I was hoping to come up with a part # for the u-joint to pass along to everyone so they could go to their local driveline shop and have it done. I have come up with one part # so far from a company in California, but need to investigate it more. I also have a driveline shop near me in Mississauga checking into it for me.

I have two spares, I checked them out but there is no part numbers on them at all, just the arrow to show the orientation of installation.

Don. it should be possible if you can find the right u-joint but it isn't a home workshop project as the cups are stacked in.
It may not even be economical at this time as the price of the part plus labour to install it could come close to the price of a new one.

Of course the source of new and used ones will eventually dry up so it would be nice when that time comes to have an alternative to junking your Wing because of a 25$ part.

Ken, When I was in the auto repair business one of my suppilers had a source that could rebuild the early Datsun drive shafts. They were build like the Goldwing shaft. The cups were crimped in. They would bore them out to a size that they had a joint for. The cost was not that bad. I have a few spare assemblys so I have not checked to see if they could do one for a Goldwing.

I'm back! I have done my homework and have come up with a solution for the final drive u-joint. There are two suppliers I have come up with, one is part # 1-0475 by NEAPCO and the other is part # 5-0400QG by QUALITY GEAR. You will have to do some checking to find them, I ended up purchasing one at a driveline shop.
I have added pictures of my proceedures and will do my best to explain them.
1- Grind the crimping tabs (that hold the caps in) off flush with the bore using a die grinder or Dremmel.
2- Push the caps out with a arbor press or vice. The caps won't come out all the way but far enough to grab them in the vice and knock the yoke off.
3- The replacement u-joint comes with outside snap rings which the ones shown in the picture turned out to be packaged wrong and had to get proper ones from a supplier. In my case I was able to machine snap ring grooves in the bore. But if you don't have that option then may I suggest Mig welding a spot or two in the bore right beside the caps. Be careful not to burn the caps or you will be starting back at #1.
Hope this helps someone in the future seeing as Honda has not had the drive coupler available for some time. If you have any question please contact me.
