Center stand, 84 Aspencade
I have had two of these 84 aspencades and both of them were very hard to pull the bike on to the center stand and then very hard to rock off the stand. The one I have now is the most difficult.

I have removed the stand and welded a bead along the side that controls the angle when it is up. That has helped a lot and I can now get it down with a lot of effort. I still don'tl use it though, because it is very hard to pull up. I can do it, but it takes all I have got. I have a gl1500 that pulls up easily. I have had a 85 and a 86 aspencade and they both pull up easily. Is this a common problem with the 84?

Aniy ideas or suggestions wouuld be appreciatedl.

it might just be your technique,my 87 aspy is easier than my 86 SEI but the 86 weights about 100 lbs more it seems

I have owned a 86 aspy and an 85 aspy. Both of them were easy to pull onto the center stand.

This problem seems to be unique to the 84 model. I have one now and I had another one last year. Both of them had a problem of coming off the stand. The one I have now has a problem both coming off and pulling up.

I have done some experimenting with the foot and the angle of the curve with no success.

Thanks

I had the same problem with my '84 Aspy. My solution was to take a piece of 1"x1" angle 3/16" thick, 6" long and clamped it to the frame with stainless hose clamps. It now comes off the centerstand with little effort. Cheap fix, it;s held up for 6500 miles so far.
