Temperature gauge
Hello to everyone .
I bought a 84 Aspencade that had been down for two years, the wires at the right side of the battary were burnt up, I replaced and repaired them. Cleaned the gas tank and the carb, new plugs, new battary. It started up and ran good....I went for about 10 mile ride. The temperature guage went up to 7 bars Is this right?

The bike still needs a lot of TLC to bring it back.

dont know exactly how much you are familiar with your GL but first i'd check and make sure that the radiator and reserve tank are full as required
was the 10 mile ride at a slow pace or what?
did the cooling fan kick on?
might not really be a problem but you have one of the GL's that just normally register high temp readings normally, could also be that the thermostat and/or radiator cap has gone bad too, also the radiator could be blocked

Thanks for your reply.
The 10 miles was up to 70mph.
The fan came on but never went off.
It doesn't seem like it is hot.

My normal ride is a '84 Interstate. Just bought this Aspencade a few weeks ago. Just not sure about the normal range on the digital display.

Just recently, the temp gauge on our 'Wing started showing 8 bars with the fan running. That has never happened before in the 7 years we've had Wanda. Turned out to be a faulty thermostat which I replaced along with new hoses, o-rings, clamps, fresh coolant and having the radiator fully serviced. Finally managed to get out for a short test run today and she's back to sitting at 4 bars with the fan kicking in if needed.

I had to replace the water pump. The shaft end was brokem, the pump was not turning when the engine was running. Now it runs at 4 to 5 bars at 60 to 70 m p h .

My bike runs at between 2 to 4 bars at normal riding, it depends on the weather and speeds.
Ride safe have fun and enjoy. Lane
