1984 GL1200A radio issues

Ok, first off....

Panasonic type II
Radio turns on and plays just fine "the station it is on"

I can not change stations at all.
I have taken apart the radio/cb stack on the handle bars and checked out the switches.
Cleaned them with ISO Blast and they are as smooth as they will ever be.

I tried to jumper the wires to no avail.
There are only 3 wires, and it would seem that the center one is the ground "I hope"
I took the radio out and cleaned the contacts on the back and lubed with dielectric grease.
Anyone know how to jump this thing? Once I get it to the XM station I am golden.

Still unable to change channels.
Also as a foot note, the CB will not change channels either...could be related.
I know they both have their own wire harness so it makes me wonder....hmm

Any help would be great, I hate to send the radio off to be told "all good "

I will attempt to replace pretty much everything.

I still wonder if anyone single item is tied to the radio and CB. as they both turn on but will not change channels.

Only by jumpering the wires at the connectors which is what the switches actually do.

I wonder if you have a ground problem being that it is both radio and cb acting the same.

the switches use ground to activate the down operation.

It does seem to have a ground issue.
This thing is loaded with all the options that could possibly be put on it.
All the Markland and drag specialty's stuff you can think of, this was right from the dealer.

Sad byt the dealer has changed hands a few times, now i have corp. usa.

If you have any electrical accessories maybe you could disconnect them one at a time to see if any of them are a contributing factor

Do not be afraid to dig into the left pocket, yes it looks like a rats nest of wiring in there but once you become familiar with what everything does it does become second nature.

I haven't come across a problem where neither of the controls worked at all , only that they became sluggish and required spraying with contact cleaner.

All the radio wiring connects eventually through the connectors on the left inner side of the fairing and sometimes these do get corroded over time, tough to get out but the do eventually pry out with a screwdriver.
