Welcome to the site, Paul, from the other side of the pond.

You should expect some good life out of your bike. Mine currently has 112,000 miles showing and she seems to be doing well.

This past week I noticed her getting hot when she shouldn't be. Come to find out, the radiator over flow container had a air leak in the plastic elbow which feeds the water back into the radiator as it cools. So as it cooled, instead of sucking water, it was sucking air and the radiator was low on water.
The elbow is an easy fix. Why the radiator was low on water is another question.

In any case, welcome to the site and enjoy the scenery.

Greetings from Massachusetts. I just discovered the rubber bushing for the plastic elbow going into the overflow tank was split. Explained why I kept smelling coolant. Pushed the elbow in farther and used some clear goop adhesive and all better now.

Thanks for the heads up on the plastic elbow going into header tank(as we call it) ,mine had done 84,000 klms (52,000 miles?) when i bought it but i changed the instrument cluster to one reading MPH instead of Klms, picked one up for £20.Have bought quite a number of spares since i bought...just in case...some from Canada too, sadly these all come from decent running bikes at breakers yards, but good for us i suppose..thanks for welcome.... :d
