Happy New year to all the members.

Hopefully you have gotten over the turkey, ham, chocolates and whatever other over indulgences you might have had and are ready looking forward to an enjoyable riding season..... won't be long, keep fit, exercise during the cold winter months for those who have to experience them and you will be ready to put some miles on.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!

Since November, I put on an extra 2-3 Kgs Confusedhock: and now remind myself that every extra Kg increases my bike's fuel consumption per Km. I tried arguing with myself that the extra weight puts an extra load on my heart ... but obviously that approach hasn't worked. :d It must be great to be a 6'2' and 175 lb rider ... but that's not me.

I've failed lots of NEW YEARS resolutions to go on a weight loss diet for health reasons. But this will be the first year I make a resolution to increase my bike's fuel mileage. Maybe that'll do it.

Actual diets hardly ever work out.

It is really a lifestyle change that is needed.

You cant cut out all the good stuff, just reduce it, a little extra exercise, don't overdo it otherwise you will stop doing it.

That saying "no pain no gain" you can safely chuck out the window, talk to any therapist they will tell you that.

best of luck.

This might give you some encouragement, this picture of my wife Sue was taken about 14 years ago as she was steadily gaining weight prior to being diagnosed with type two diabetes.

The picture of us both wintering in Florida last year was after the weight loss, spread out over 3-4 years diabetic free.

She just ate a little less and walked every time she could.

Sue looks great in both of the pictures, but, I can fully appreciate the benefits of staying on the lighter side, especially as we get older.

You're absolutely right on about the lifestyle needing change Rick, because that's the only way it will work. I sometimes find myself slipping back into my old eating habits and that can be very dangerous. I have got to constantly think new, improved, lifestyle and when I do eating becomes right again, otherwise, the belt goes out one hole, some shirts no longer fit and that becomes very discouraging. Resign yourself to using smaller dinner plates, try thinking half of what you used to eat and ignore all the racket your stomach makes when you're hungry between meals. What really can help is a daily food guide that offers a selection of good foods that you like in the portions that are correct for you, then you can easily go for the healthiest choices rather than the easiest, most convenient and unhealthy choices. Oh, and never forget the occasional favorite treat in moderation that will make it all seem worthwhile.

Happy new year to everyone, and good luck with the weight loss. I was told by a doctor once that the best way to loose weight was by the push method. Push yourself away from the table earlier.

My wife has been trying to overcome type 2 diabetes for 8 years but I just won't leave.

Wow! You guys look GREAT! A beautiful couple with a beautiful bike.

Yes indeed, the stats for North America show that only 5% of overweight people permanently stick to a diet. Even some of the diet gurus have died way overweight.

I agree, my head will have to get into a modified lifestyle and then hopefully my body will follow. :d

I want to also thank you all for being here on this forum as I needed some help with my first wing as I am a new wing owner.
I did a fare bit of work to it this past year and have learned so much about these wonderful bikes and I appreciate all your help in my learning.
now if I can help someone in this next year from what I have learned I would be happy to do so and also as I learn more as well.
I look forward to a great year in 2012.

I must have already mentioned ... but it's worth a repeat ... the last time I visited my internist he said, "Well sir, you're really over weight!" So I said indignantly: "Oh? I want a SECOND OPINON." The doc didn't skip a beat and shot back: "O.K. On top of that, you're ugly too!" :d

By now, I guess this has whiskers.
