Too much Dielectric Grease????

I've had an issue that my low beam went out last season. I installed a new headlamp and used plenty of dielectric grease in the connector. In the last few weeks the low beam went out again, then worked, and now went out again. Thinking it might be the hi/lo beam switch I took it apart and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner. Then checked the three wires with a circuit tester and all worked good. When I took apart the headlamp assembly and the connector, I found it melted and burnt. Is it possible that I had too much dielectric grease in the connector? Or is it that the connector just failed on it's own?

I have never heard of, or seen dielectric grease causing a problem like that. I would replace the connector, make sure all the connections are clean, that should do the trick.

The heat was caused by loose connections. The grease would help prevent moisture from corroding the contacts but they still must be tight.
