just use a serp belt and pulleys in the conversion, easy to find a replacement when u would need one
even now alot of auto parts stores carry a small supply of v-belts and it will only get slimmer in the future, most vehicle now are strictly serp
has anybody EVER had to replace a belt? dont ever remember reading apost where soembody needed a replacement on the road much less had an alternator failure yet
speak up guys!

Fractional belt are used for applications that the name implies...fractional horse power.ie: 1/4 hp,1/2hp etc.
"A type of V-belt that can be used for light-duty applications, such as those that transmit less than 1 hp. "
An alternator will use much more than one hp.
