Any ideals on getting the radio out of a parts bike with no key ? I am going to completely disasemble the fairing and store the parts for later ....73...jim

That is going to be a bear of a job without the key.

I hope you can do it without breaking the covers ect.

I think I would try picking the lock first, or perhaps drilling it out.

I think there is a way and since your gonna disassemble the fairing, I don't think it'll be that hard either!! Take a look of this picture:

Look to the bottom rear of the radio mount. You'll see a flat bar that goes all the way across the bottom that's spring loaded on both side's. There's a tab near the spring on either side that has a forward bevel to allow the radio to slide in and lock in place. There's an opening beneath the mount that should allow you to use a flat head screwdriver to gently pry the flat bar down while pulling out on the radio to remove it!!

I've not tried this and this is only a suggestion, but it look's it'll work!!

And Yes!! That's the mileage on my bike!! It's not my fault it's only a mile or so to the nearest Dairy Queen!!! :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
