New Progressive Springs...What a DIFF!!!!!!

I have known for a long time that my fork springs were shot. Finally had the job done yesterday as well as the stem bearings attended to. The difference was astounding! Smacking my head for not doing it sooner!

Hey WGD,
Who did your front springs? Was it an individual or a shop. Just curious, can you shoot me a ballpark figure for the job? I'm needing to get mine done, I have the springs, but I don't think that I have the proper tools to do it effectively. I did replace the rear shocks myself. Was pretty straightforward and fairly easy. I'm just concerned about the springs under pressure, getting the correct amount of oil back in, and getting the caps back on without crossthreading them. Thanks. Cheers, FTO

Hey that's not bad. I may have one of the other local shops shoot me an estimate. My regular dealer that I've used for a long time, (did most of the work on my old GL1000 and has done most of the work on my 1200) doesn't work on anything older than GL1500 anymore. They moved into a new facility and cut out the olde stuff. Don't understand that one, but oh well. There's another dealer across town that advetizes that they will work on anything. Thanks again for the info.

After removing the brake calipers, the wheel, the mudguard, the handlebar cover, what is it to undo 6 Allen bolts and a circlip.
It takes but a few minutes to remove the forks. I find it easier to do my work a bench.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I'm still trying to get a good grasp of what's needed. Still feel a little uncomfortable tackling the front ones myself. Maybe unnecessarily so. Thanks. Cheers,
