I'm just curious. I just got my bill for the year. Close to $1000.00. Am I doing OK? 1986 1200 Interstate. I'm 51 years. M license since I was 20. My record is close to perfect.
Any thoughts?

Are you guys serious? I'm 45 and have had my M/C license since I was 16, clean record and I pay $120 a year on my 86 Aspencade (Wawanesa Insurance). Just P/L and P/D to make it legal. I have my 08 KLR650 insured through Intact and pay $277 for a year. Do you guys have some kind of extra insurance on your bikes?

My insurance for my 85 ASPY is $738 for basic approx $560 is for mandatory loss of income and health coverage in case of accident. Ontario Canada..... BTW we pay the mandatory coverage on all cars and bikes that you own.

Wow, those are heavy premiums. When I bought my Shadow brand new the insurance was around $1000 a year with the majority of the premium being eaten up by fire, theft and collision. Had to go the full insurance as it was financed. My KLR and wing were both purchased for cash so I didn't have to take the extra coverage unless I wanted it. When I insured the wing my agent said that they wouldn't do collision on it as the blue book value on the bike was so low due to its age. Big regional differences in insurance.

Seeing as my premiums are not even comparable to Ontario's, please disregard my comments.

Insurance in Ontario is such a racquet anywhere else in the world and these kinda premiums would be illegal!!!!!!
I am 49 yrs old. I got my bike licence when I was 17. I have class A,C and M licence with Z endorsement. Only one speeding ticket about 15 years ago.
My rate is just over $1500 per year on my 1986 Aspencade and GL500 Interstate. That rate is just for PL & PD.
I drive a semi over the road so I don't get to ride through the week. I'm a weekend fair weather rider so I may put 3-4000 km combined on both bikes. Guess I'll have to decide
to park one of the bikes in the summer now

Just got my bill for $846 from Intact. That's with home and car with them. Three yrs ago I paid $527. That's about 60% increase. I've been M licensed for 39yrs with no tickets or claims for 32 yrs. My broker says the payout on bike insurance is $10 in claims for every $1 in premium and rising over the last five years. I will have paid enough in premium for them to cover market or their assessed value should my bike get totalled , hopefully without me on it. I guess they want to hang on to their billions in revenue.
