Push button on/off switch for Handlebar Radio Muting
On my '85 Aspencade, there is a rectangular push on/off button for the mute option on the radio . . . . . Can anyone point me to where I can get a replacement without buying the whole assembly? Whoops . . . . I couldn't even find a reference part number using Honda's online parts fiche to try and buy one . . . . THANKS

I was not sure where to post this. Did not look like a fit for the lighting / electrical as I looked at that forum and felt posting it here was better safe than sorry . . . .

I had mine fail a couple of years back. Its discontinued by Honda. I was lucky enough to find a good used one for sale on Ebay. You might try there, or check with http://www.oldwingpartsking.com/index.html. I recently found a part I nedded there also.

If the push button or channel changer gives up the ghost, before giving up, try squirting in a liberal dose of wd40, even going as far as immersing it in the stuff.
Blow out the switch or allow to drain then squirt in some contact cleaner.

It might revive it.

I usually give mine a dose of wd40 in the fall and the spring to remove any moisture that has seeped in.

I have heard of some prying them apart to clean but never done myself.
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

SHHHHHH quiet . . . . don't tell anyone . . . SHHHHH this is actually for my 93 Wing . . . . but the part is the same . . . .

TANKS. I did try the WD-40 to no avail. (It is nice knowing I can use Wd-40 however. Thanks).

I have a REAL GOOD IDEA what is going on and it is not worth repeating. These "buttons" have a sh*tty design to make a long story short. I think Rube Goldberg was on the design team . . . . I spent MANY hours trying to fix a "stuck" button already and it is basically a disaster waiting to occur for "old" switches in "bad" shape. My "mute" button has been toast for a while and I can live with that. When my cruise control got stuck ON, that broke the camel's back . . . . .

I went to Radio Shack today and may have found something I can "adapt" and make look right. For what its worth, the switch design is a TON better, no external moving parts like the '93 switch. I hope to try the new switch out in a few days and if it is an "acceptable" fit (i.e. no cutting and is a "secure/tight" fit) I will post the Part Number and details for others. Thanks for the response
