GL1500 rotor covers on a GL1200?
Rotor and caliper covers are pretty much just cosmetic parts right?

Well, I was looking into ways to get that "ring of fire" look on the front wheel, and I was wishing my rotor covers weren't so dented. This got me thinkin'... I think GL1500 rotor covers are pretty cool lookin', and since they're just ABS plastic they might be easy to work with. If their diameter is large enough, it seems I might be able to cut away some plastic where needed, (I love dremel tools) and attach them right over the existing rotor covers by some method. (I would figure that out once I get the covers in hand.)

The GL1200 calipers are lower of course, so the existing chrome GL1200 caliper covers would have to stick out the bottom, which would require some cutting. (My caliper covers below are painted but I have others that are just chrome.)

Below, I did a little "photoshop work" to check out how it might look. (I didn't try very hard so the picture kinda sucks.)

Does this seem doable? The big question might be whether it's big enough in diameter, and also if the GL1500 covers are "deep enough" to surround the rotors.

Ya, I know you do. But my existing rotor covers themselves look kinda ugly.
You probably have my ring of fire for either type of rotor cover right?

By the way, please see my PM.

Although we're a bit off-topic from my original post Jim, I think you have some strip lighting, wouldn't that work? I looked at your web page and I didn't see any "ring of fire" described, can you direct me to an appropriate page?

Back on topic: Has anyone seen this done before? Anyone know if the dimensions are sufficient? Could the GL1500 covers have some internal structure that would make this impossible even with cutting? Anyone think it looks goofy? Anyone think it might look cool? (I tend to think the look is a bit "modern" for a GL1200, but that's not necessarily bad.)

OMG that photoshop job looks so sexy

the part i most like of the 1500 is the front wheel with those nice rotor covers. Big Grin would be nice if you make them fit, they are hold by 3 screws, i removed my friend's and well.. i think it would be possible. but since they fit on the fender of the 1500 they may look out of place :\
