front caliper pistons
Can someone tell me what the difference is between the two caliper piston on the front calipers. They have a different listing and a different part number on the fisch files that I've seen. I think this could be why I'm having such a time getting my calipers put back together properly. So I need to know what the diff is and which one goes where. I've already destroyed two rebuild kits trying to put them back together.

The main difference between the left and right front calipers is the size of the pistons, large on the left, smaller on the right. The right caliper also is linked to the rear caliper so you'll need to use the foot brake to bleed it.

If your having difficulty installing the piston's, check the 2 o-ring grooves for corrosion and make sure they are cleaned really good. When I installed mine I lubed the o-rings and the pistons with brake fluid and they slid right in! Also make sure you use DOT-4 brake fluid!

Ok, I figured there had to be something between the right and the left cause I checked the pistons against each other on the individual calipers, as I did one at a time to insure there would be no mix ups. I'm not sure but I think I may have recieved the wrong kits too. Looking over the different pictures of the packages on line it looks as though I may have got kits for a 1000. Anyway thanks for the info, I was real careful when cleaning the calipers cause it looked as though it had been some time since they had been done, if ever. Bessy has 65k on her so it may have never been done till now. Thanks again, Joe
