Jim, you want to tighten those pinch bolts then loosen the caps.

Hey Vic.
The lower pinch bolts are tight, they are holding the forks well, I thought the tension from the top pinch bolts may be holding against the caps.
I have put so much torque on the caps im suprised i havent broke the allen wrench.

I am leary about using heat, I have thought about maybe drilling a 3/8 hole in the center of the caps, but even with a greased bit I am afraid fo getting some metal shavings in them.

can they be filled from the bottom if I take them off?

Jim

Jim, can you get your hands on an impact gun and a good Allen bit to fit onto the gun?

You can also try smacking the caps with a lead or brass hammer.

If the forks ran out of oil it's likely the seals are giving up the ghost since that's the only way the oil can get out.

That's good to hear Jim. What weight oil did you finally settle on?
