Mileage on your Wing
Purchased my 86 1200 aspencade a year ago last month. It had 15000 on her when I started riding and I am pushing her close to 20000, probably make it there before I have to put it away for the snow. Seems like I am just breaking her in.

Bought my 84 Aspy last October with 50,000 miles and have only put about 4,0000 miles on her. I ride when I have time or on weekends. I have been racing the Southern Enduro Riders Association circuit for the past eight years and with 10 races per season, from Alabama to Texas, it has taken a lot of my time.

Because of the travel-to-the-race routine of taking the motorhome and 12 x 6 v-nose trailer, I recently trailered the wing to the Big Bend area of Florida for three days of "scenic byway"" riding. This October we're planning to do the same in northern Alabama at Cheaha Mountain State Park.

I love riding early in the morning before the cage drivers come out. I live on the gulf coast and within a 20 minute drive north, I'm in the middle of nowhere with virtually no cars to deal with. I often find myself day dreaming about taking epic trips on the wing. It is freedom!!!!

I got my 86 Interstate in fall 2003 and it had an indicated (approx) 80,000 mile on it. Since then I rode for about a year without a functioning speedo drive gear and a few hundred miles with a broken speedo cable. Then the speedo quit and I replaced the whole cluster. My best estimate is about 150 to 160,000 on it now. That's assuming it wasn't at 180,000 when I got it. Since the odo only registers 5 whole digits plus tenths it's impossible to say.

I sure will Poorboy! It will be great!

About seven years ago I took my son to Kintuck OHV area and we camped at Mt Cheaha.

86 Interstate, just turned 83K-miles. A hair shy of 50K when I found her in 2001. Winter sucks for riding... :d

When I bought my 85 GL1200A 2 years ago, (this is my third summer) it had just under 14,000 miles on it.
It now has roughly 22.6k on it. I ride it most every day the weather cooperates. That means almost 100%
of the time from may though October. Maybe 10% of the time the rest of the year. I also do the occasional road trip.

When I first looked at the bike, the guy was asking $3.5k. I looked at the odometer and didn't even quibble with him.
Said I'd be back in about an hour with the cash. The way I see it, that bike is damned near new. (My 82 Dodge Dakota has 210k miles on it)

I expect that if I maintain it properly, I'll be able to keep this bike around a good long time.

I bought my 85 GL1200 Limited a year ago with 84,000 miles on it and have put 3,000 miles on it in a year's time. (Winter not withstanding)

She's a great ride, but after a season's familiarization, I'm finding all the little things that need attention and E-Bay has become a good resource for items unavailable elsewhere. Seeing some of the other mileage readings I can see that there's a lot of riding potential left and plan to keep and treat her as the Classic she is !!

I have a 85 Interstate with 26,000+ miles on it. I ride to work weather permitting and my wife and I ride some on weekends. My brother had it for about 15 years and put about 5,000 miles on it. So far I am able to keep up with my Son and Daugther-in-law's Harleys.

Shift full throttle at the redline, 7500 RPM, and you will rocket past those Harley's.

85 interstate, 80,000 kms , new stator at 79,000 kms, bike looks great and runs well, thinking about gas mileage improvements, I am only averaging 35-36 miles per gallon. New to me this summer, I will spend some time this winter getting to know the machine better. Improvements thus far have been adding a MP3 music player and two headsets and adding an aux power outlet for GPS. I am still on the lookout for a GL1200 vet to hop on board the saddle and give it a go to let me know how close my bike is to normal since I have nothing to compare it to. So if anyone is in the Fredericton NB area of Canada, let me know.

'84 Apsy that I bought three months ago from the most "honest" private motorcycle salesman at exactly 90 000 mile on the Odometer...being ever so slightly synical, I won't hold out that it is the orginal milage, but I can say that I have done about 1300 mile during the last 3 months. I ride when I can any day (night) the week. Am planning a slow leisurely trip in April from Cape Town to Johannesburg onto Durban and down the South and East Coast back to Cape Town. Should add about 5000kms over the 10 days. Will be two-up with the wife, but no trailer (as I can't find one locally that is for sale).

Have replace clutch plates and normal service, but bike was well kept judging from old oil, filters etc.
