Stripped out screws on fairing pockets.
On the left side of my bike, all of the screw holes are stripped out on my left side fairing pocket. Common sense tells me to just get bigger screws. Is this the correct approach or is there a different method?

Thanks

pretty much the best idea, since at a later date u will probbaly encounter the same situation,at that time u could probably repair the area with abs repair expoxy, but for now would just take the easy route

I had the same problem and ended up using Lepage Repair Express epoxy putty. Just rub it in your hands until the colours blend then fill the screw holes. Let it harden and then re-insert the screws. Worked great for me.

I agree with the larger screws at this point. Good luck :ympeace:

I use the abs repair epoxy
I have air wing on my bike and the bigger holes stared a crack on right side of fearing.
Crack are harder to fix at that point.
Good Luck with it Tongue Tongue

I drilled the holes all the way through the fairing... Then mixed up some two part plastic epoxy and filled the holes completely (drilling the holes allows the trapped air to escape)... Once it cures then just drill the holes (small) and use the original screws... Did mine a couple years ago and they still haven't striped out... The epoxy plastic seems to be tougher than the original plastic... I used stuff very similar to this...

I filled the holes with Weld Bond about three years ago and they are still good.

Use bigger screws but grease the handle of the screwdriver so you don't strip them again. Tongue

I got the next size up screw, self tapping ground the sharp end off, and used two fingers to hold the screwdriver Smile
