Stock radio size
Since my Interstate didn't come with a stock radio and has an aftermarket in it I'm thinking of replacing, can someone tell me the actual depth of the stock radio? I know it's not very long and there isn't a lot of space in there to work with.

My 84 1200i was missing the radio when I bought it. Honda published a manual for the Panasonic cassette-radio that I believe should have been installed in this era bike. If you go to the goldwingdocs.com web site you will find the pdf document that shows dimensions on the first page.
Hope this helps,

I knew about that site but for some reason it didn't occur to me to look at it. And to think I spend half time in my job referring people to the manual, you'd think I'd learn something. Thanks!

I hope to find a replacement radio for my 84 Interstate. The factory radio system is long gone prior to my ownership, and it looks to me that someone had put some "aftermarket" radio in it's place, but that was gone as well. I've been searching, and the closest thing I could find was a
'marine" unit that was 6.5 inches deep. Now that the boating season has ended I hope to find a size compatible unit on sale... Maybe Santa will come thru this year..
If you find something decent, make sure you let me know. I've searched this topic, but I haven't found a lot of ideas. The models that were suggested on some sites are no longer available.

If you include the bezel depth, that may help

OOPS I just went to check the availability and now that is something else that is unavailable..

but it's on Ebay (click)
The only stupid questions are the one's that are not asked.

I assume you guys know about the Sierra electronics radio adapter for the 1200 Interstate? I put one on my bike several years ago.....sets the radio out a bit, gives a bit more room and looks stock when installed.

You still need to find a radio that is not too deep, there is not a lot of depth inside the fairing to work with. I bent one of the fairing braces a bit to help make it fit.
