Upper Radiator Hose
Anyone have the Napa number for the upper hose that goes to the reserve tank? I think it has a small leak. Not losing coolant but smokes a little. I can ride all day, but it smokes a little when idling. No increase in the temperature of the radiator, and the radiator was tested by a repair shop. I changed the upper and lower hoses on the radiator and flushed and changed the coolant, so I'm thinking it's the reserve tank's hose. (Damn, I should have changed that)!

If you're talking about the small line, that should be a standard 1/4" or 5/16 ID line I believe.. Here's a link to the parts thread:

Mine also has a minute drip at that hose where it connects to the radiator. I don't think that hose has to be replaced with OEM. I need to do the same thing. I'm just taking it off and going to the auto parts store and say, "I need one of these." I think thats going to work..

I had an '84 Aspencade back in the day, there was a recall on the overflow tank; The bolt that holds it in place was overtightend at the factory Confusedhock: ...the tank would develope a hairline crack...would only leak when it was hot and expanded....might be something to look at Idea

My 84 did just that and I had to replace the tank.

Could be the overflow tank. Of course, it only starts to smoke if I leave it idling for a while,, and it's on the right side in the right fork area. So, I think it is leaking either from the overflow tube which leads to the radiator or the overflow tank.

It is very common for the overflow hose to crack right at the first bend leaving the filler neck, the crack always seems to happen underneath the hose where you cannot see it, simple to replace with a length of hose from any auto parts store though, cost should be less than one dollar!

Does anybody have the NAPA part number that can be cut to make both upper and lower radiator hoses? Use to have it marked on Steve Sanders site, the site s changed and can't find it anymore. Thanks, Steve

Tricky,
Feel free to add this to your cross reference list:
Radiator hose - Dayco P/N: B70834
U/P: $10.99
Sold at Advanced Auto Parts.

I cut the length needed for the bottom hose and then had to trim about 2" off the remainder to fit the top. That thing worked perfectly. Looks and fits like Mother Honda intended.
