Aux Input on LTD
I almost hate to ask you all this because I know I have seen it on here some were but I just can not find it. I have a 85 Limited with a Panasonic Type 3 radio, the RM1200, and I am wanting to hard wire an aux input jack from my radio so I can plug in a Sirius radio. My tape deck does not work and I am not real happy with the FM signal way. I have no problem getting to the inside of the radio and finding what I need to tap into, then leaving the female end of the plug in the lid of the tape deck door. I have the forum that tells what wires to tap into, but it is for the RM1100. Thanks in advance, John Tongue

I think the main difference between the 2 radio's is the 4 speaker system on the RM1200 Type 3. I think it would be worth pulling the cover off your radio and compairing the circuit bourd connections.

I assume your dislike for the FM way of your Sirius receiver is the FM transmission antenna which is standard for Sirius install kits. I would agree with you on that. I have my Sirius receiver installed using the Direct FM connection. Instead of broadcasting an FM signal this unit plugs into the antenna line and puts FM signal directly into the radio. Your FM antenna plugs into the adapter so you can still use regular FM broadcasts. See TSS Radio or Sirius's site for the adapter. I found the FM antenna connection under the faux tank going near the left side of the fairing.

I have been using the wireless FM trans were you tune your radio to a FM station that is all static mostly but has a strong signal, in my area it is 94.1. The problem with this is that when the 94.1 signal gets weak you start losing your Sirius radio also, and I do not have the same power as far as volume is concerned.

i cant help you with this but it brings up a question
1) i have a RM1100 on my Aspy and even after i sent it back it doesn't receive half as good as the RM1400 on my SEI,although the RM1100 does play better when put into the SEI but not as good as the RM1400

what is the difference between the three models (1100-1200-1400) ?

i do know that using the audio cassette adapter with my iTouch is better than using the Audivox FM transmitter i had wanted to use before

That is a good question, I can tell you that the wire color from 1-13 on the RM1100 is not the same as the RM1200, I will go to the garage and get my radio and let you all know what the colors of the wires are, be back in 15 or so.

OK I am back, first of all the RM1200 has only 10 slots in the little white block that said wires are going into, they are as follows, looking at the back of the radio, starting at 1 from the left:
1- Blue
2-Black
3-Brown
4-Gray
5-Red
6-Light Blue
7-White
8-Yellow
9-Blue
10-Black

Now on the Rm1100, the slots to tie into, which there are 13, 5 is the ground (Red wire), 12 is the left audio (Grey wire), and 13 is right audio (Red wire).

The FM Direct unit is different from the standard wireless FM broadcast. Its a unit that goes inline on the antenna line. Then your antenna plugs into it. This puts the FM signal directly into your radio over-riding any other FM signal. No FM station will interfere with it. Your FM antenna is not actually being used for the Sirius reception. If you want to use regular FM stations you would have to turn off the Sirius receiver because with the FM Direct your Sirius receiver over-rides all other FM transmissions.

As far as your FM reception, did you try the service bulletin #11 I posted? It worked wonders for mine... 8)

I had print that bulletin and have not checked yet to see if it has already been done, I was going to do that along with linking this Sirius Radio direct. Sounds like I am better off to do the fm signal thru the antenna instead of taking the chance of damaging the radio it's self by wiring into the circuit board. I wonder if hooking up thru the antenna will solve the drop in volume as well?

I have a simular problem with a drop in volume with my MP3 player used with an external FM modulator. The only way to change the drop in volume is to turn the volume on the MP3 player almost to max. The bad part about that is it runs the battery in the MP3 player sooner...
