Replacing fork seals, got a question
I'm planning on doing my seals in the next few days, so I'm getting all the parts together. Got all the parts, and the fluids, printing out Tricky's instructions, and have a question. What do you use to seat the seals if you don't have the super uber fork seal installation tool they say you need in the manual? My thoughts are that if you use the fork shaft like a slide tool to remove the seal, and the bushing is the item that makes the keeper ring act as a slide hammer, you can't use a socket to send the seal home because the fork shaft won't slide back through the keeper ring with the busing intact. Someone has to have a simple solution that I'm just not seeing. Any help with info as to what to use to drive the seal home would be great.

I used a piece of PVC plastic pipe cut in half. 11/2" I think. Poorboy

Thanks Poorboy, if it works for you, I'm sure it will be just fine.

I also used a piece of plastic, only I just split it down one side so that it would expand slightly. I don't remember exactly what size but It was gray conduit pipe and was a snug fit arount the fork.
