Rear wheel spider

If I understand correctly the hub diameter on a 1984 is 60 mm and the 1985-1987 is 65mm. I just received a used rear wheel that was stated by the seller on E-Bay to be for an '84 but it has the 65 mm diameter hub. If I an find a spider that fits the larger hub, will it also fit my final drive splines? Thanks for any help.

The splines are the same.
The wheel housing was made larger (65mm) on 86-87 machines as there was a problem with bearings becoming loose. The 84-85 machines were 60mm have a read here: viewtopic.php?f=85&t=8982&start=300 |
