Rear brakes on "87" gw 1200 aspencade

Hi to all you great bike mechanics hope you can help...
Rear brakes started to squeak resently, upon inspection I found the rotor is pretty deeply scored and the pads are pretty much nonexistant.
I'm a recent owner to this bike with no service manuals and I wasn't able to download one from steve Saunders site.
With the bike up on the center stand, I have removed the saddle bag from the left side,and caliper. However, now I do not know how to remove the wheel from the swing arm and the final drive which it appears I need to do inorder to remove and replace the rotor. According to other articles I read, I need to bleed both front and rear brakes and probably replace with new fluid after this is done. Pistons appear ok, maybe need alittle cleaning,lubing upon reassembly.
Any help you guys can give me is wonderful.

The link you gave me for the manual on my 1200 is just what I needed. I was able to see clearly what I need to do and how to do it easily. Sooo tommorrow I know what I will be doing and how I will be doing it.

I just installed EBC pads and rotors on an 85 1200 and I was quite impressed with the quality of the components and the performance as well. Good choice.

I also recently put EBC's on the rear of my wing. Although there is a hint of a squeak once in a while, they are excellent. I think the squeal is the nature of the beast. Just so it isn't the metal backing on the pads hitting the rotors hock:

Make sure you get the right compound for a touring bike. You don't want the hard racing pads.

I bought EBC from JC Whitney for 1200 and they ate up rotor. Looking for good used rotor.

Guys you have to be careful when buying pads, if you buy EBC sintered pads for racing they will chew up the rotors real fast, what you want is the EBC Kevlar pads they are much nicer to the rotors plus they are much quieter. EBC also sells new rotors at reasonable prices.

I have a 85 Aspencade. A few weeks ago I replaced my rear brake rotor with an EBC Rotor P/N MD 1082 and EBC brake pads P/N FA 69/3. Using EBC parts was less than half the price that Honda parts would have cost. I do need to bleed my rear brakes system.

Noticed that the rear 1200 EBC rotor part # covers all 1200s and 1100s. Looking for used parts. Does anyone know if H original parts all cross between these bikes? Read somewhere that original rear 1200A rotor is thicker (believe 5mm vs. 4mm) than 1200I. Know someone that has good 1100 rotor.

I believe that there are only 5mm and 10mm rotor thicknesses. The Interstate would have the solid unventilated 5mm rotor and the Aspencade, LTD and SEi have the hollow ventilated 10mm front rotors. BTW, the left and right front rotors are not interchangeable.

Thanks. Am I OK in assuming an original Honda 1100 rear rotor will fit on a 1200?
