Adjusting a Drag Specialties Backrest???
I've recently acquired this '84 GL1200I along with a couple of boxes of spare parts and accessories. One being a Drag Specialties wingleader backrest. Installation looks fairly simple but the actual backrest seems to be leaning too far back. Is there anyway to adjust these so they are more upright? I've done a search here and didn't really find anything other than bending the backrest tubes. Anyone know how to adjust these?

Thanks for the welcome. Nice to hear from somebody close by. Might see you on the road when the weather gets warmer.

Thanks for the link. I think that is the one I found when I did a search. It's the only info I found regarding adjusting the backrest. Thanks again.

is yours the one that you untighten the sides and move in and out. or it the push button one. the push button one you can bend the slide tube carefully with the backrest in place.

There doesn't appear to be anything to tighten or any sort of push buttons. There are 3 adjustment holes in the mounting bracket to move the rest forward or back but nothing to adjust the angle of the backrest. The backrest has small pins you pull out then pull the bar sideways to move forward or back, but once installed it just flips forward to allow access to the rear seat. It seems to have a built in stop when flipped back into position and this is what is too far back. You are sitting like the kids in their cars, sort of lying back but not sitting upright. That is what I'm looking to adjust.

Took the plunge this afternoon on this backrest and did as suggested in the above link. My buddy and I procedded to flex our muscles and bend the backrest tubes. Seems to now be in a comfortable position when seated, but time will tell once I get out on the road. Thanks to all who responded.
Ron.
