seat removal?
1984 Interstate, I give up, how do you get the seat off?
The front is loose, but something is holding the middle down?

Also, my shocks say they are air shocks, will I be able to add air to them to stiffen the ride?
The bike seems to be setting lower this year?
I assume I do this under the seat? Blush

Thanks for the help.

The seat has Allen bolts on each side under the passenger area of the seat (see the attached photo). For the air shocks, there should be an air valve under the right side cover (the one directly under the driver's seat --- it just pops off).

Thank you, I will check that out tonight. I looked last night when I got home before I posted. The seat has a cover on it, it may be hiding the bolts from me...

Anyone have a range on the air shocks? I need them pretty stiff, we tend to load her down!

That picture is great! Thanks again.

you should also have a schrader valve located for the front forks near the top on either the right or left fork

believe the honda reccmmednded max front pressure is 14 lbs and the rear approx 60 lbs

but each are susceptable to age of springs and fluid on what pressures work, normally both front and rear are in need of replacement or reoil after 27 years

most likely if mc is new to you both front and back need upgrades, especially riding two up

Thanks tricky.

I need to dig my manual out! I have misplaced it, I think I even have it downloaded. I was just in a hurry.

if the seat isn't already off, removing the saddlebag tops makes access to the side fasteners a little bit easier.

Thanks everyone, the air shocks where pretty low! Hopefully they hold air!
I loaded them up to max and my wife and I road to Church tonight, about a 15 mile
round trip, I couldn't believe the difference in handling with both of us!

The allen head bolts to remove the seat where under my seat cover.

UPDATE!

So far the air shocks have held up fine.

And tonight I picked up a brand new used seat on the way home. It looks like new, is an OEM seat, but it is wider and thicker than my OEM seat was?

I have heard they bettered the original Honda seat at some point?
Mine is a 1984, the seat fit fine and I feel it is an upgrade.

You might have found a 1987 seat which is supposed to be better than earlier years.
